As Velhas

At the turn of the 19th century, a group of spirited cooks, women from northern Portugal, gathered at this location to found what would become a beloved culinary landmark. Affectionately, they named their establishment "Casa das Velhas" (Old Women's House), a way of paying homage to their experience and also a way of showing their playful side, saying, "We're not going to young women anymore."
